Forrest began fly fishing at just 10 years old and discovered his true passion for the sport on a trip to Cherokee, NC, where his grandfather helped him land his very first trout. He’s been hooked ever since.
Growing up in Western North Carolina, Forrest spent years fishing and guiding local waters, working with several outfitters and fly shops before founding Cross Rivers. He was also a member of the USA Fly Fishing Team, competing against some of the best anglers in the country.
Forrest holds a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Management from Western Carolina University, combining hands-on experience with a deep scientific understanding of aquatic ecosystems and fish behavior. When he’s not guiding, he’s on the water refining his craft—mastering new techniques, experimenting with tactics, and tying his own custom flies.
Nothing brings Forrest more joy than watching clients develop the same passion for fly fishing that has shaped his life. He’s always eager to share his knowledge of the sport and hopes you’ll come experience it with him.
